DataBri-X partner ARC showcases KNOWDS at SEMANTiCS 2025
At the SEMANTiCS 2025 Conference in Vienna, DataBri-X partner ARC presented the demo paper “Semantically-Enabled Data Spaces for Intelligent Data Asset Discovery.”
The paper, authored by Harry Nakos, Theodore Dalamagas, Stelios Sartzetakis, Nikos Kapetanas, Danae Pla Karidi, and Yannis Stavrakas, introduces KNOWDS, a system that extends Data Spaces with semantic search capabilities.
KNOWDS leverages minimal descriptive metadata of data assets to construct a relevance graph and applies Steiner tree-based algorithms to identify relevant items beyond exact query terms. This innovative approach enables more intelligent, accurate, and efficient data asset discovery.
By advancing semantic interoperability and enhancing data sharing, KNOWDS aligns with the principles of Gaia-X and the International Data Spaces (IDS), while directly supporting the DataBri-X mission of building trustworthy AI in Europe through data sharing and re-use.
