On Tuesday, May 27, the 2025 DataBri-X Datathon was hosted by IMDEA Networks Institute in Madrid, bringing together students, researchers, and data professionals for a full day of collaborative problem-solving and innovation.

Participants formed interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world data challenges using advanced tools, including JenPlane, the flexible data management solution developed by project partner TIB. The event emphasized DataBri-X’s core mission of fostering open, FAIR, and trustworthy data infrastructures across Europe.

The program featured a keynote lecture by Professor Jon Crowcroft from the University of Cambridge, who shared forward-looking insights into data systems and their role in scientific and societal advancement.

The highlight of the event was the final award ceremony. Team Suazo, comprising Nadezhda Chukhno, Antonio Bazco Nogueras, Diego Madariaga, and Genoveva García, was awarded the first prize of €2,000 for their outstanding project utilizing JenPlane to solve complex data issues with creativity and precision.

The 2025 Datathon underscored the value of open collaboration between academia, industry, and the next generation of data scientists.
